Call now — or we'll call you back

After hours or can't talk right now? Leave your name and number and Ryan will call you back the same day where we can.

In Short: We test every gate and fence run around an Aintree pool for $250 flat. When the barrier passes, the Form 23 is issued on site, and you lodge it with Melton City Council, the only council here. Anything that fails gets a free return visit once it's fixed.

Registered Pool Safety Inspectors

Pool safety inspections carried out by Ryan Gaw, Pool Safety Inspector registered with the BPC (formerly the VBA), Licence IN-PS 100055.

Same-Day Form 23 Certificates

Pool safety certificate and Form 23 issued on-site the same day your barrier passes inspection.

Free Re-Inspections

If your pool fence doesn't meet compliance, we provide free follow-up inspections once remediation is complete.

New estate streets in the City of Melton

Aintree sits on the basalt plains west of Melbourne, inside the City of Melton, and fresh streets are still being laid out as the estates fill in.

How does the clay under Aintree pull a pool gate off its latch?

Under the middle of the suburb, the geology maps show basalt plains ground with alluvium along the creek lines. The clay that weathers out of it swells in a wet winter, then shrinks and cracks as summer dries it out. Fence posts lean a little, the hinge side of the gate drops with them, and a latch that caught cleanly in July can miss by the end of the season.

So the gate comes first. We open it, let go, and watch whether it swings shut and latches by itself, then repeat it from another angle. A gate that has stopped closing or latching on its own is the defect we write up more than any other, wherever we work, and it's usually a cheap fix if you catch it early. You can try the same thing yourself with our Pool Gate Self-Close Test Victoria: 30-Second Check before we come out.

Planning maps show two inundation overlay areas touching Aintree, plus environmental and landscape overlays on parts of the suburb and heritage overlays on a few sites, mostly out on the edges rather than in the estate streets. None of that fails a barrier by itself. What it changes is the ground and the garden: wet soil beside a drainage line moves posts faster, and shrubs or beds against the fence count as a foothold for a child. Look your lot up on VicPlan, and trim that strip back before we arrive.

What changes on an estate pool after handover?

The estates here are young. Most of the suburb is Urban Growth Zone, with rural conservation land on the edges, all planned under the Rockbank North Precinct Structure Plan, gazetted in June 2012. At the last census Aintree had 2,317 private dwellings, almost all of them separate houses. So each pool sits on its own lot, fenced by its own boundary runs and often a wall of the house, and we walk the whole line, including any door that opens toward the water.

Pools here went in after the estate was planned, so the original installation is rarely what fails. The trouble comes later. Hinges work loose, a side gate gets swapped for one that won't latch, or a deck, planter or pergola goes in beside the fence and gives a child a step up. Which stage your street was released in barely matters: the inspection turns on the barrier in front of us, not the age of the street.

Mention anything built near the fence when you book. Hearing about it first is better than finding it on the day, and a small fix beforehand often saves the second trip.

Who lodges the Form 23 with Melton?

You do. Aintree is one of the City of Melton's suburbs, with no boundary split to sort out, and Melton doesn't inspect pools or spas itself, so there's no council inspector to book. Registering the pool is also yours to do: council's rule is that the owner registers online or at the Melton Civic Centre.

Once the barrier passes, you leave with the Form 23 in hand and have 30 days from its date to lodge it with Melton. Your four-year cycle starts when council receives it, not on the day we visit. Current fees and forms sit on our Melton council pool compliance page.

How soon can an inspection be booked?

Aintree work comes out of our Maddingley base. Jobs from this side of Melton get put on the same run as they're booked, which is why most are done inside the week you call.

We need the street address and a note on access, plus a heads-up about anything sitting near the fence, so we can tell you what's worth fixing first. Call 0402 860 499, or book a pool barrier inspection online with your address. Other suburbs on the run are listed under all service areas.

Aintree Pool Inspection Questions

Is the Form 23 the pool safety certificate for an Aintree pool?
Yes. Its formal name is a certificate of barrier compliance, but it's the document most people mean when they say pool safety certificate, and it's the one Melton needs lodged for a registered pool or spa. We hand it over on site when the barrier passes.
Does a spa in an Aintree backyard get the same inspection?
It does. A spa needs a compliant barrier just like a pool, so we check the fence or walls around it, each gate and latch, and anything climbable nearby. If it all passes, the Form 23 is issued that day, at the same $250 flat.
Our pool is brand new. Do we need you?
Not yet. A new pool is signed off by the permit surveyor on the build, with a certificate of final inspection. Our visits start later in its life, once the four-year cycle comes round or you're selling.
Can I book the inspection myself?
Yes. You deal with the inspector directly, who is registered with the BPC, and the fee is $250 flat with no agent in between. Call 0402 860 499 or send an enquiry with the street address.
What happens at the re-inspection?
We come back, free, and check the items on the first report. If they're fixed and the rest of the barrier still passes, the Form 23 is issued on site. A routine fail means a repair and a return visit, with no extra forms.
